Do you think the police ever get annoyed in traffic?

Like, if I was just trying to get to back to the station to end an all-day shift I’d be pretty peeved that everyone was suddenly going five under the limit simply because I’m there.

Judging by how often I see them illegally run red lights, I’d say yes. Yes they do.

Answer: Duh and/or hello.

Evidence: Sitting at a red light and blues light flash, goes through light, blue lights off.

Almost certainly. I’m always amused when I see ambulance cars - which have very similar liveries to Police cars around here - driving along, over the limit on the motorway like everyone else. You can see people going, ‘Oh shit!’, then realising it’s just some EMTs in as much of a hurry as they are.

We had a jerk in front of us in the left lane slow from 80 to 65 in a 75 because there was a cop with a guy already pulled over on the right shoulder. This was yesterday.

I certainly hated it when I owned a retired P71. It was funny for the first week, but then you couldn’t get anywhere because people were going exactly the speed limit, or slower. I wanted to install a PA system so that I could randomly yell “I AM NOT A COP” to make people go faster.

I’ve seen Fire Department cars go down busy stretches of roads with lights and sirens and then turn them off when traffic clears. Never with Police though.

Normally, people get the fuck out of their way though. Especially on the highway when one is in the fast lane with no intent to go fast.

...that looks far too simple. Plus, there are times when everyone moved over and things actually worked out quite well!

Hell yeah. I was cruising the other evening/night on my way to see my parents. Far right lane going about 10 over (55 in a 45, turned to 55 in less than half a mile; stopped at a red light half mile back, so I figured I’d go ahead and set the cruise control early). Notice a car breaks away from the group that was behind me, don’t think anything of it. As soon as I hit the 55 mph area, that breakaway car pulled up beside me and matched me for a second. Looked over, it was a cop. Made very quick eye contact, and I got the feeling he was saying “You’re lucky I got to get home and take a dump.” Then he tore ass down the road at about 65.

I drive a decommissioned P71, traffic usually isn’t as bad as you might predict - on the highway it’s pretty easy to pass anyone, and on single-lane ordeals it’s less common than you may think to get behind someone who goes 5-10 under the limit and is staring at you in the mirror.

That said, it does get old some time, and I have to imagine the cops get sick of it too after a while.
